About

A small team, on purpose.

Crystal Pearl Independent Home Care cares for veterans, seniors, and adults with disabilities across New Jersey — through our independent living home care program, with private and shared housing, transitional housing, and recovery support, in their own homes and in a family-style house of our own.

Why we exist

Because getting older should not mean getting smaller.

Crystal Pearl was built around a simple conviction: a person does not stop being themselves because they need help. It is run by Teresa, who has made it her work to give veterans, seniors, and adults with disabilities a safe home and the care they deserve — and who still answers the phone herself.

We care for veterans, who are so often the last to ask for anything. We care for seniors whose families are frightened and exhausted and doing their best, and for adults with disabilities who want the same things everyone wants: a safe home, a routine that is theirs, and help with daily living that does not take over their life. We care for the spouses left behind, and for the adult children driving two hours each way on a Sunday.

That is why we do both housing and care. Our Independent Living Home Care Program offers private and shared housing, so a family can choose how much company they keep, and transitional housing for someone who needs a supportive place to stay for a time while they get settled or recover. A family should not have to change companies — or repeat their story to a new stranger — when circumstances shift. Independent living becomes a rented room becomes transitional housing becomes a little more help each day, all in the same place, with the same people.

Private pay is accepted, and we keep home care affordable for the families who need it. We would rather talk about cost early and honestly than have anyone guess: you will hear a plain answer, in a private conversation, before anything is decided.

Teresa answers the phone. If she cannot help you, she will tell you so and point you somewhere better. That is the whole business model.

What we hold to

Four things we do not compromise on.

Dignity first

Nobody should have to trade their privacy or their pride for help. Care is offered quietly, at the pace of the person receiving it, and never in front of an audience.

The truth, plainly

If we cannot meet a need, or if we think a family should wait, we say so. We would rather lose a placement than take one that will not work.

The same faces

Trust is built by repetition. Families get caregivers who come back, learn the routine, and remember what matters to the person they are caring for.

Family is part of the plan

Adult children are carrying a great deal. We answer the phone, we tell you what happened today, and we do not make you chase us for news.

Who we look after

Veterans. Seniors. And the families holding it together.

  • Veterans and surviving spouses including help finding the VA benefits they may have earned
  • Seniors who live alone and would do better with company and a routine
  • Adults with disabilities who want a safe home, a steady routine, and help with daily living on their own terms
  • Families after a hospital stay when recovery at home needs more than a visiting nurse, or transitional housing would help
  • Couples who want to stay together rather than be separated by care
  • Anyone who simply needs a safe place to stay an affordable room to rent, somewhere to start again after a difficult situation at home, or a stable home as a young person leaves foster care
  • Adult children who live far away who need someone dependable nearby
Tell us about your family

You do not have to figure this out alone.

One conversation is usually enough to know what to do next.
